This page does not address project management but instead focuses on a subject close to my heart, adoption.  My wife and I became foster parents in 1999 with the intention of adopting our foster children.  We did this in San Antonio through the state of Texas foster/adopt program.  We finalized the adoption in 2000.  The process is challenging (as it should be) but the end results are rewarding beyond belief.

According to a 2006 report by the Evan B. Donaldson Adoption Institute, "more adoptions take place each year than is commonly perceived or reported. The Institute estimates more than 135,000 annually, of which about 13,000 to 14,000 involve babies who are voluntarily relinquished domestically. Of non-stepparent adoptions each year, approximately 59 percent are from the child welfare system, 26 percent from abroad, and 15 percent are domestic infants."

We decided to adopt because we love children and it broke our hearts every time we read news of abandoned children, homeless children, children spending years in orphanages, children neglected or abused.  The more we looked into it, the more we became convinced that we were being called to adopt.

I don't intend to try to make this into a destination site for information on adoption.  I simply want to express my support and offer whatever assistance or information I can to anyone who might come along here and be interested in adoption.

I recommend Adoptive Families magazine for adoption information.  All their stuff is online so click here to go to their site.

Adoptive Families has also produced The Adoption Guide.  Although it's about 130 pages, all the information is online and well organized for easy use.

If you have questions about our adoption journey or if there's any way I can help you regarding adoption, send me a note:  brian@clearpm.com.
